Opening February 26, 2010

Defendor -

Casey's Take:  If this story were real, I hope a cop watches this guy before he goes down the road of inevitable pedophilia.  In other news; Kick-Ass will be a lot better than this.  Props to Woody for continuing to make interesting films tho.

Cop Out -

Casey's Take:  48 hrs. for the "Why" Generation.  I like this matchup, you can tell the cast genuinely enjoys working with each other.  Plus surprisingly scribed by Kevin Smith.  If he's in the theater when you go see this I'd bet he's sitting in one of those handicap seats on the edge near the bars.  Y'know cause he's too fat to fly.

Formosa Betrayed -

Casey's Take:  James Van Der Beek comes out of hiding (Tom Cruise forced him not to make any movies for 5 years so Katie wouldn't run back), to star in a propaganda film about China-Taiwan relations back in the 90s? I guess, it's hard to tell.  Um . . .this looks . . .boring at best.

The Crazies -

Casey's Take:  Well thank you Fandango!, for totally blowing the plot completely.  Timothy Olyphant kinda looks like a poor man's Josh Duhamel, and all the zombies look like Fergie . . . zing!  (Y'know, since she did meth)

The Art of The Steal

Casey's Take:  The plot sounds like  a craptacular take on "Barbarians at The Gate" but this is actually one of the most riveting trailers I have seen this year.  I got excited just learning about this story.  A must see!

Prodigal Sons

Casey's Take:  Finally a movie about a semi-retarded white guy that isn't a comedy.  Tired of all these  white people saving retarded/slow black kids all the time. (i.e. Radio, The Blind Side, The Soloist).  This is also a documentary, don't let Hollywood fool ya.  Watch the trailer for a surprise twist you won't see coming.

The Yellow Handkerchief

Casey's Take:  I'll award a movie ticket to any FMC/SMC/CMC member who can explain if this plot will actually go anywhere in a 140 characters or less.  Also, this would be the perfect movie to put on in college if you're trying to hook-up.  It'll make you seem deep to suggest it, but if you're not gettin it on 30 min in you might as well call it a night.

Toe to Toe

  • Casey's Take:  Sounds like a Duke Lacrosse Game.  Which, if you have ever been to Duke; sucks.
  • Go Cuse!  (editor's note: after watching the trailer this looks quite good.  This year's "Thirteen"  with realism)

A Prophet

Casey's Take:  This is like the French version of "GodFace" (Godfather mixed with Scarface) Check it out if you like european mafia movies.  (Cheaper looking but classy, like European guys!)

  1. City of God is one of my all time favorite movies, so I may have to check out A Prophet. Couple of those other ones look good, too, mainly the documentaries.

  2. Yes! I didn't realize A Prophet was nominated for an Academy award. Let's go check that out!
